The ancient Greeks believed that topaz gave them strength

Topaz actually has an exceptionally wide color range that, besides brown, includes various tones and saturations of blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, and purple. Colorless topaz is plentiful, and is often treated to give it a blue color. Topaz is also pleochroic, meaning that the gem can show different colors in different crystal directions. Precious topaz is a birthstone for November and blue topaz is a birthstone for December. Blue topaz is the gem of the 4th anniversary and Imperial topaz is the gem of the 23rd anniversary. The Imperial Topazes also known as the Precious Topazes or Golden Topazes, took their name from the Tsars of Russia, who held the exclusive right to use the Imperial Topazes that were mined in Russia from the 17th to the 19th century. The largest Imperial topaz mine is located in the Ouro Preto area in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The shades of Imperial Topaz are those of orange, brown, yellow and more rarely of pink.It is considered the stone of good luck. It cleans the aura and brings prosperity and abundance to whoever wears it.
